The Woods

My sister, Noelle, and I went to the woods with Brom and Kees. They were really excited. long and short of it is they played in the creek (which will soon be dried up because of the ICC) and then we crossed. Kees got away and Noelle ran after him. I prayed so hard and held Brom who was whimpering becuase his buddy was away. Noelle started crying and then Kees came back. Thank the Lord! Well that's it for now. Bye!

cuddly and adorable....or rough and aggresive?

Brom is still adorable looking, but he's gotten very aggressive. He has a bad habit at nipping people. We are doing our best to train him but he still bites. He has sharp teeth so I cant wear anything near him that I dont want him to tear up. Actually, I'm wearing a shirt that has holes up and down the arms because of him. Naughty little dog...oh well. I guess we'll just keep at it!

A New Puppy

Hello. My name is Kayla and I am the second oldest of six kids. My older brother, TJ who is 22, has moved out, so I'm "the top dog" around here....pardon the pun. I have a special relationship with all my siblings. Hunter (12), Trevor (10), Noelle (8), and Baden (6). Now that you've met the gang, by the way I'm almost fourteen, you might as well know that we will be the ones keeping this blog. You might know me from my other horse blog...good times, good times...or you may not. But either way this blog is not about our adventures with a horse, no, it is about the newest addition in our family...Brom the puppy.

Trevor wanted a puppy. My mom said that if he read certain books and wrote a compare and contrast paper (to determine which dog he got...we got a mutt, border collie mother suspected rotwieler father) he could get a dog. Well, my mom wanted a dog that was about 2 years old and already house broken. Trevor on the other hand wanted a puppy, not over one years old. My mom gave in and prepared him for the tough nights he would have and the patience he would need. My brother was probably thinking "yeah yeah yeah, can we just get the puppy?"

We knew that we wanted to adopt from a shelter. We already have pure golden retriever who is going to be nine this year. Trevor really wanted a border collie. So we looked up border collies and found this adorable looking mutt which we ended up getting. No, it was not as easy as all that. We had found previous mutts that we really wanted but none of them worked out. Anyway, we found a adorable border collie/rotwieler mix. He fit the bill; cute, would grow to be a medium size dog, and did I mention cute?

My mom and my brothers went to the shelter, I couldn't go because I was in a class and my sister couldn't go 'cause she was in school. And that day they came home with a puppy. My mom told Trevor he had to name it something from literature. She came up with a few suggestions and he settled on Brom, a character from Eragon.

That night none of us got sleep. We each had a shift to watch Brom, take him out, or give him a drink. We basically had a slumber party in the boys' room which is where we had the crate. (okay, so this is random, but Brom is taking a nap in front of me and he's snoring!) Back to the story...We have now had him for a week. This is our one week annivarsary. He is already a lot better at potty training, knows his name, and is in the process of learning how to sit.

I might as well mention that Kees, our pure bred golden, is getting jealous. He keeps looking at us like 'When is this guy's owner coming? I mean, he's not staying right? Right?' :) I will post pictures hopefully soon.
